Our Story

Austin Epoxy Floor Pros was started because Central Texas homeowners deserve a floor coating crew that actually understands the Central Texas climate. Too many of the floors we now repair were originally installed by national franchises who use the same spec in Austin that they use in Denver and Boston — epoxy-only systems with skipped moisture testing and no consideration of the 130°F garage interior that an Austin July guarantees. Those floors fail. We see them every week. Our system is built around what actually happens to a slab in Texas: triple-digit summer heat, expansive clay east of I-35, Hill Country limestone west of MoPac, Gulf humidity year-round, the surprise January freeze, and the brutal mountain cedar pollen season. Every coating we install is engineered for those conditions specifically.

Our staging area is central Austin and we drive to every estimate ourselves. The crew that quotes your floor is the crew that installs it — same people, same standards, same accountability. Meet the Team

Our installers are experienced concrete and coating professionals with backgrounds ranging from commercial flooring contractors to residential remodelers who got tired of subcontracting epoxy work to unreliable crews. Every installer on our team has completed manufacturer training programs from at least one of our material brands (Penntek, PolyTek, Wolverine Coatings, or Citadel), and our crew leads carry IICRC and NACE coating-applicator credentials. We do not use day-labor crews and we do not subcontract the install work. The same three to four faces show up to your home from estimate through walk-through.

• Moisture testing on every slab. ASTM F1869 calcium chloride and F2170 RH probe, included free with every estimate. No coating goes down without a documented test result.
• Full mechanical diamond grinding. Planetary grinders, vacuum-shrouded heads, CSP-2 to CSP-3 profile on residential and CSP-3 to CSP-4 on commercial. No acid etch, ever.
• Polyaspartic topcoat as standard, not upsell. We don’t install epoxy-only systems in Texas garages — the heat kills them. Polyaspartic is the spec on every residential garage we coat.
• Written, itemized quotes with no on-the-spot pressure. You get a line-item estimate emailed within 24 hours of the on-site visit. No “today only” discounts. No “if you sign now” pressure. The quote stands for 30 days.
• Transferable warranties. Both the product and workmanship warranties transfer free of charge at sale. We update the registration to the new owner’s name on request.

We are fully licensed and insured in the state of Texas. Our general liability coverage is one million dollars per occurrence; workers’ compensation covers every installer on the crew. Certificates of insurance are available on request — we routinely provide them to commercial clients and homeowners’ insurance carriers. Our installers carry manufacturer-issued applicator credentials from Penntek (polyaspartic), PolyTek (epoxy and polyaspartic), Wolverine Coatings (full system), and Citadel (commercial). Crew leads hold IICRC certifications for moisture-sensitive substrate work and NACE coating inspector credentials for commercial projects.

Why We Specialize in Epoxy and Polyaspartic Floors

The Austin floor coating market is crowded with generalists — remodelers, painters, and concrete contractors who add epoxy floors to their service menu as a side offering. The result is uneven workmanship, inconsistent prep, and quotes that don’t reflect what the slab actually needs. We focused on coatings exclusively because the craft rewards specialization. Diamond grinding is a learned skill; moisture diagnostics is a learned skill; metallic pour manipulation is a learned skill. By doing nothing but coatings, we get more reps per year on every step of the process than any generalist contractor possibly could. That shows in the result.

What We Don’t Do

To be specific about specialization: we don’t install vinyl plank or laminate flooring; we don’t lay tile; we don’t pour new concrete (we coat existing slabs only). We don’t sell epoxy paint kits to homeowners who want to DIY. We don’t subcontract our work to “certified installers” who may or may not show up. We don’t quote on the phone. How We Got Here

Austin Epoxy Floor Pros exists because the founders spent years repairing other crews’ failed coating jobs and finally got fed up with the failure rate. Most of the “before” photos we keep are big-box paint kits from homeowners who tried to DIY, and franchise installs from crews who skipped the diamond grind and the moisture test to hit a price point.
